Chapter 5: Topside Disconnect
In this section we show you the proper technique to draining the engine fluids from the radiator and connected hoses before removing the engine for disassembly.
Chapter 13: Valve Train
In this section we show the proper way to disassemble and organize the entire engine valve train system. Show different types of rockers, rocker arms, hydraulic lifters and solid lifters.
Chapter 17: Pistons
Here is a clip for removing the pistons, starting with the rod caps. You'll also get to see the crankshaft, rod bearings and journals for the first time
Chapter 25: Cylinder Block
Here we show the process of align honing the main bearing bore. Then the block deck is leveled and machined as needed for the new head gaskets to seat properly. And finally the cylinder walls are bored out just shy of their new size
Chapter 27: Connecting Rods
Here we show you how they install the rod pins into the connecting rods to connect with the pistons. Then they will measure the pistons to determine the final bore size of the cylinder walls before they are honed.
Chapter 28: Honing
Honing will do two things. First it will bring the cylinder walls to the matching diameter of the new pistons. Second it will leave a cross hatch pattern of light scratches, to keep oil on the walls and prevent metal on metal scraping.
Chapter 36: Piston to Valve Clearance
In this clip we show you a great technique to check the piston to valve clearance. First you need to know the firing order of your particular engine. You perform the check on your #1 cylinder.
Chapter 40: Camshaft
Here we'll install the Camshaft. You will need moly lube on the distributor drive gear and all of the lobes of your cam. To avoid a mess only do one section of lobes at a time and rest the cam on a journal to lube the next section.
Chapter 49: Valve Lash Adjustment
Valve lash adjustment is important. If you follow the firing order of your motor, you'll only have to turn the crankshaft one complete rotation. This section has some of the more detailed 3D models to show you the internals of a working motor.
Chapter 51: Engine Externals
A quick clip on installing external components like your fuel pump, water pump, and thermostat housing. It's usually easiest to have the harmonic balancer set at top dead center for your fuel pump.
Chapter 53: Ignition
Installing your distributor. This can be tricky. The distributor gear has to meet the cam gear and connect with the oil pump drive shaft.

This clip shows you how to find the initial timing of your engine, with or with out a top dead center whistle. You need to know your firing order and distributor rotation direction.Then we'll show you how to set the distributor cap right, using the #1 cylinder in your firing order.
Chapter 60: Camshaft Break-In
If you have a new camshaft, the break-in procedure is critical. Follow our guidelines and you won't flatten a cam lobe and ruin the internals of your engine. The basic formula is 20 minutes @2000 rpms and never going below 1500 rpms.
