What kind of response will you motor give you when your distributor is place 180 degrees out.

Response will be varied depending on the number of degrees out. Could result in everything from a no-start, to sputtering to backfires...

Best thing to do is to find TDC of compression stroke for the #1 cylinder and then pull the cap off the distributor. If you're 180 out, the rotor will be pointing in the opposite direction of whichever wire on the cap is running to your #1 plug.

There are plenty of directions for setting the timing of your distributor and wiring the plugs in this forum and on our 'Basic Engine Building' DVD if you need specific directions.
