Hi,

I am looking at 2 of your dvds/book deals. I would like to know what the difference between the "How to Rebuild the Small-Block Chevrolet/dvd/book" and the "Basic Engine Building DVD - Interactive, Step-by-Step Instructions"

From the examples they show online I can't tell if its worth buying both of them.

thanks in advance!

The DVD included with the 'Rebuilding the Small-Block Chevy' Book is only half of the first edition of the 'Basic Engine Building' DVD.
Years ago the DVD was called '8-Point Rebuild' and was only about 2 1/2 hours long. It had the same 8 sections that the 'BEB' DVD does, but it was a first edition and only have of that DVD is included with the book. The book is excellent however and covers a few street/strip upgrades that the 'BEB' DVD does not.

That being said, the 'Basic Engine Building' DVD is well over 3 1/2 hours long and was completely re-written and highly improved upon when compared to the old '8-Point' project.
The 'BEB' disc is the absolute best step-by-step how-to on engine building you can find. It was also designed to be used by anyone working on any engine type, 4-cylinders, straight 6, V8s...whatever.

Let us know if you still have questions.

Thanks for the details!

Forgot to also ask does the BEB dvd demonstrate how to take out the engine from the actual car (using an engine lift for example)?

I am now even thinking about getting the Rebuilding the "GM 4L60E Automatic Transmission DVD"

I currently have a camaro that has a TH700 transmission in it. GM renamed the TH700 to 4L60 in the 90's at some point. Is this rebuild dvd applicable to the TH700 as well? I know from reading that "e" stands for electric and the TH700's don't have the electronic parts.

Sorry for the delay.

Yes the 'Basic Engine Building' DVD covers everything from labeling hoses and wires before the engine comes out to the camshaft break in during start up.

The '4L60E' rebuilding DVD is a great companion to have with a reference manual for your TH700. There are plenty of similarities, but also plenty of differences.
